7th Grade WVGSA

The West Virginia General Summative Assessment for 7th grade begins tomorrow, Tuesday, May 15th at 8:00 am. Please remind your 7th grade student to charge up his or her iPad. If your student has a pair of earbuds, they can use their own pair for the Summative Assessment. If not, we will have earbuds and keyboards for students.

We want to again remind our 7th grade students that having a good night’s sleep and eating breakfast at home or at school helps fuel their bodies and their brains. Arriving on time to school the days of testing, fosters less stress and allows students to perform their very best on the Summative Assessments.

Our testing schedule for the week:

Tuesday, May 15 – Summative Grade 7 English Language Arts

Wednesday, May 16 – Summative Grade 7 Math

Thursday, May 17 – Summative Grade 7 ELA Writing

Friday, May 18 – Make Up Tests – Grade 7 and

Grade 6

New WVGSA Dates

PLEASE SEE THE LETTER YOUR CHILD WAS TO BRING HOME UNDER COUNSELORS CORNER. Due to the extension of the school year, Kanawha County has announced the following dates for the West Virginia General Summative Assessment. Sixth grade students will test May 9-14, seventh grade students will test May 15-18, and eighth grade students will test May 21-24. Make ups will be given May 28 through June 1.

Juuls

Parents, a recent trend among middle school students is called juuls, which is a new type of e-cigarette. Please refer to the Nurse’s Notes to find out more about this alarming trend and what to look for to see if your child may be at risk. 7th Grade Immunizations

Early Outs Canceled

Due to the missed days of school, KCS has canceled all early outs for the remainder of the year.
